Sleep Studies

Sleep studies are tests that measure how well you sleep and how your body responds to sleep problems. These tests can help your doctor find out whether you have a sleep disorder and how severe it is.

Indications for Sleep Study: Sleep-related breathing disorders, such as sleep apnea, Sleep-related seizure disorders, Sleep-related movement disorders, such as periodic limb movement disorder, Sleep disorders that cause extreme daytime tiredness, such as narcolepsy

Pre Test Preparations: Keep a sleep diary for a few weeks before your sleep study, Avoid taking a nap (if possible) for a few days before the sleep study, you may be asked to discontinue medicines used by you for sleeping before and during the sleep study. Stay away from caffeine for a few days or for at least a few hours before the sleep study, if possible. Take a shower before going to the sleep study. Plan to pack a small overnight bag with your toiletries, pajamas, medications and a change of clothes for the morning.

At Dr Prabhjeet’s Neuro Centre Sleep studies are performed in a sleep lab that is specially equipped with computerized monitoring equipment. You will be able to talk to the technician, who will constantly monitor your test from an adjoining room. The technician will also help you if you need to use the restroom during the night.
